Brett Hearn's first foray into race promotion was a lesson for sure.
Ten days of perfect weather forecasting gave way to a half-day of panic as advancing rain storms threatened the "Big Show" Super DIRTcar Series event on Wednesday evening at Orange County Fair Speedway.
Then the Speedway stadium may have shown signs of age as electrical problems forced the orderly evacuation of the half-covered grandstands and forced a delay of 85 minutes.
In the end, all but one race managed to get started and a large crowd was treated to an entertaining, yet shortened big-block modified feature.
