Middletown, NY – May 31, 2007 – By Tom Skibinski, Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series PR Director

The front row is the place to start when the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series comes to Middletown for the annual tour stop at Orange County Fair Speedway. DIRTcar Big-Block Modified veteran Frank Cozze from Wind Gap. Pa. proved it for the second straight year as he led flag-to-flag to capture the Cedar Ridge RV Center 75 in convincing fashion.

“I got a really good starting spot tonight and figured if I kept it straight the only guy that was going to beat me was me,” said Cozze, 51, who won the first qualifying heat, drew the pole then proceeded to hold off runner-up Matt Sheppard for the entire 75-lap distance around the 5/8-mile ‘Hard Clay’ oval. He mirrored last year’s performance staged by Billy Decker who led all 100 laps to collect the $6,000 top prize and guaranteed starting spot in the headline Eckerd 200 during Super DIRT Week, Oct. 3-7, at the New York State Fairgrounds in October.

Waterloo, N.Y. chauffeur Sheppard settled for second-place a half-dozen car-lengths behind Cozze under the checkered flag, with another Waterloo pilot Steve Paine, Integra Shocks Fast Timer Decker and Mike Ricci filling out the front-five. Sheppard’s second straight runner-up finish vaulted past Tim Fuller and into the Advance Auto Parts SDS points lead after three events with Cozze moving into third ahead of Danny Johnson and Decker.

In less than two weeks the Advance Auto Parts Big-Block Modifieds are back in action at Fulton Speedway on Saturday, June 9 with a second 100-lap title event slated for Susquehanna Speedway paying $6,000 to win and offering points towards the overall Hoosier Tire-Sunoco Race Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Championship.
