Markle Wins, Meier 11th

07/31/07

In addition to “Nostalgia Night” at Orange County Fair Speedway, there were heats and features for current modified, sportsman and full-fendered racers.

Jeremy Markle won his second 30-lap modified feature of the season in a caution-free contest. Starting on the pole, Markle stayed out front of a challenging Dave Werber. Gary Edwards passed Werber on lap 12, and he and Markle began to separate themselves from the rest of the padk. The next lap, the two began to catch up to the rear of the field. On lap 19, fifth place runner Bruce Kline pitted, giving the position to Mike Kolka.

At the checkered flag, it was Markle, Edwards, Werber, Jeff Heotzler, Jr., and Chuck McKee.

A beaming father-to-be emerged from his #79, and “This car’s running really fast right now. This is ten wins on this motor from the Hindley car. Kenny Marshall was giving me the sign that I had a pretty good lead, but I heard somebody coming up behind me. I didn’t know whether it was Gary Edwards or Davey (Werber), so I jumped on it a little harder. I gotta thank my mom, my dad, and my wife. She’s still pregnant, but any day now she oughta have the baby. It’s good to see her standing here. I appreciate everybody’s help. Thanks a lot, guys!”
