Kolka wins; Tommy goes from 15th to 4th Again!

MIDDLETOWN — Mike Kolka and Ric Hill started 1-2 on the front row of the modified feature at Orange County Fair Speedway on Saturday and stayed that way throughout the 30-lap race.

Kolka finished 2.6 seconds in front of Hill. Michael Storms used a late surge to grab the third position on lap 25. Donnie Wilson had been running third over the first 24 laps, but slipped back to sixth.

Points leader Chuck McKee started 14th, but worked his way up to fifth place. Division runner-up Tommy Meier went from 15th starting spot to finish fourth, shaving two points off his deficit, which stands at 14 points.

In a two-car race to the finish, Jimmy Spellmon nipped Jake Schlagel by a half-second to win the sportsman feature.

Spellmon started on the pole and led from the drop of the green flag. Schlagel jumped from the second row to pass John Odendahl on the opening lap.

The lead eight cars stayed in order from laps 14 to 19, with John Odendahl and Anthony Perrego holding on to third and fourth, and Frank Venezia jumping Tyler Odendahl for fifth on the final circuit.

Division leader Erik Holmgren finished eighth and holds a two-point lead on Eddie Burgess and Venezia. The top seven drivers are separated by eight points.

Bill Pascual raised his points lead to 26, winning the pro stock feature from the sixth starting spot.

Bobby Schade took second but was later disqualified. Troy Arnold was the next finisher.

Emerson Cargain Sr. won the veteran pure stock, taking a 20-point lead on Marty Van Neuiwland.

Kyle Pepin won the amateur pure stock, but race runner-up Frank Thissen maintains a six-point lead on Matt Burke. Jeff Richardson won the Northeast Vintage Dirt Modified feature.
