Orange County Fair Speedway drivers beat most of the raindrops on Saturday, but the modified feature was postponed and will be held this coming Saturday.

Frank Doty, John Aumick and Bill Johnston started 1-2-3 in the sportsman feature and finished that way. Johnston lost his No. 3 spot on the first lap to Bobby Hassenmayer, but regained it on lap 16 of 20. Doc Young and Matt Hitchcock rounded out the top five running order.

The sportsman standings had some major shuffling at the top. Hitchcock jumped from fourth place to first with 208 points, Frank Venezia stayed second at 206 and Bobby Hentschel climbed one spot to third at 204.

Erik Holmgren dropped from first to fourth at 200 and Richie Coons and Mike Ruggiero are in fifth at 198.

Steven Shortway won from the pole in the pro stock feature.

Mike Dutka moved from his fifth starting spot to runner-up by lap 3 . Scott Kehr started eighth but moved into fourth by lap 2 and grabbed the third spot by lap 15 of 20. Points leader Bill Pascual finished seventh, losing two points but still leading Troy Arnold by 24.

Julius Pepin was declared the veteran pure stock winner and Charles Donald took home the amateur pure stock win. Amateur leader Frank Thissen placed fifth, extending his lead on Matt Burke to eight points.

Chris Whitehead, Steve Dodd and Rick Mill won the three modified heats and Clinton Mills claimed the consolation. On his own night, Bill Wilson placed third in the opening heat.
